Halie Sciury is the lone Sandy Valley track and field athlete to advance to regionals.
The junior won the long jump at the Division II District Track and Field Championships at West Holmes, besting the field with a leap of 16'8.25.
The 4x800 consisting of Kiannah Sarver, Mercedes Sarver, Natalie Weber and Ruby Behm finished sixth with a time of 11:46.11.
Sevenths went to the 4x200 (1:57.71) consisting of Alicia Costello, Olivia Costello, Baylee Offenberger and Behm; and the 4x400 (4:34.32) consisting of A. Costello, O. Costello, K. Sarver and Sciury.
Alana Hill was eighth in the shot (30'8).
Carrollton won the girls title with 127 points. It was folloed by Indian Valley with 109, Minerva with 95, West Holmes with 73, River View with 65, East Liverpool with 53, Tusky Valley with 45, Lisbon with 34, Claymont with 29, Sandy Valley with 18, Coshocton with 8, and Harrison Central with 5.
Sciury, a two-time state qualifier in the long jump, will compete at the regional meet at Athens High School this Saturday, May 27, 11:30 a.m.
The top four in each event will qualify to the 2017 State Track and Field Championships, at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University, on June 2-3.
At districts, Michael Lewton was seventh in the 1600 (4:57.06), Aleks Rymer was eighth in the 400 (53.9), Connor Finnicum was eighth in the shot (41'9.5), and the 4x800 consisting of Lewton, Rymer, Bronson Frank and Isaac Knight was eighth in 9:26.9.
Indian Valley won the boys title with 113 points. It was followed by West Holmes with 100.5, Carrollton with 94, Claymont with 75, River View with 66, Minerva with 45, Garaway with 43, Harrison Central with 31, Lisbon with 30, Tusky Valley with 27.5, Edison with 14, Coshocton with 12, East Liverpool with 7, and Sandy Valley with 5.
