The Sandy Valley Middle School track and field teams competed at the league meet recently, with the boys placing fourth and the girls finishing sixth.
Justice McCort and Bryce Stenger had the best finishes on the day for the Cardinals.
McCort was second in the 110 hurdles (18.31) and Stenger was second in the pole vault (9').
Thirds went to Jacob Beard in the 110 hurdles (19.22); the 4x200 (1:57.72) consisting of Dylan VanMeter, Justin King, Brayden Ashton and Chris Kiko; and the 4x400 (4:27.87) consisting of McCort, Trent Helwig, Demetrius Evans, and Cameron Blair.
Finishing fourth were Reheem Kahlid in the 800 (2:29.81), Blair in the 200 (26.91) and long jump (15'10.5), and Ashton in the 1600 (5:39.86).
Placing fifth were McCort in the 100 (13.28), Beard in the 200 hurdles (31.79), and Caleb Everetts in the discus (94'10.5).
Sixths went to Helwig in the 200 hurdles (31.8) and Reece Franks in the 200 (29.19).
Garaway took home the boys title, lapping the field with 140 points. Malvern was second with 70, followed by Ridgewood with 68, Sandy Valley with 58, Newcomerstown with 47, Strasburg with 43, East Canton with 32, and Hiland with 4.
Andrea Frank led the Lady Cardinals as she won the 400 in 1:09.63 and finished third in the 100 in 14.22.
Fourths went to Christine Lawver in the 1600 (6:29.86), Kaylee Nichols in the 200 hurdles (36.01), Emma Swiger in the shot (27'2), and Katie Brown in the discus (64'4.5).
Nichols was fifth in the 100 hurdles (20.01).
Garaway won the girls title with 133 points. It was followed by Ridgewood with 96, Newcomerstown with 66, East Canton with 53, Tusky Central with 34, Sandy Valley with 32, Strasburg with 22, and Malvern with 16.
