Reichard captures the 1600 at league meet

East Canton competed at the 2017 Inter-Valley Conference Middle School Track and Field Championships recently, with the girls finishing fourth, while the boys placed seventh.

Tori Reichard had the only individual championship on the day as she bested the field in the 1600 with a time of 6:04.08.

Placing second were the 4x400 (5:05.78) consisting of Tessa Townsend, Bella Kline, Emily Kline and Reichard; E. Kline in the 100 hurdles (18.11); and Reichard in the 800 (2:50.19).

The 4x100 consisting of Josie Adams, Alexis Dimmerling, Erin Norris and Molly Robinson finished third with a time of 1:00.9.

Placing fourth were Brooklynn Donaldson in the 800 (2:55.46); B. Kleim in the long jump (13'7); and the 4x200 (2:14.16) consisting of Adams, Townsend, Norris and B. Kline.

Townsend was sixth in the high jump (4').

Garaway won the girls title with 133 points. It was followed by Ridgewood with 96, Newcomerstown with 66, East Canton with 53, Tusky Central with 34, Sandy Valley with 32, Strasburg with 22, and Malvern with 16.

Boys Track and Field

The 4x400 had the best finish for the Hornets on the day, placing second with a time of 4:27.63. Members of the squad are Braxton Ohman, Jordan Bolds, Nick Martino and Landen Demos.

Thirds went to Gabe Schilling in the 1600 (5:37.53), Aaron Gothard in the high jump (4'8) and Demos in the 800 (2:29.19).

Placing fifth were the 4x100 (56.06) consisting of Connor Groghan, Gothard, Jacob Johnson and Demos; and the 4x200 (2:08.71) consisting of Groghan, Gothard, Johnson and Jordan Bolds.

Finishing sixth were Joey Bellamy in the 110 hurdles (20.94) and long jump (15'6.75), and Bolds in the 100 (13.43).

Garaway took home the boys title, lapping the field with 140 points. Malvern was second with 70, followed by Ridgewood with 68, Sandy Valley with 58, Newcomerstown with 47, Strasburg with 43, East Canton with 32, and Hiland with 4.
