Bank of Magnolia held an April 11 celebration to honor Cheryl Calkins on the eve of her retirement from 36 years with the bank.
Calkins joined the bank as a teller before accepting a position as a loan officer. She said meeting people and working with customers have been a treasured part of her career at the bank.
"I've had them as customers, some of them, the whole time I've been here. I will really miss that," she commented.
She noted that she hopes to spend part of her retirement as a volunteer with a local group, and she also plans to travel.
"I love to travel, so that would be my main fun thing," she commented, adding, "I definitely want to keep busy."
She also plans to spend more time with her three grandchildren, who live right next door to her home in East Sparta.
"I usually see them every day," Calkins said.
